My Dream

This was such a nice dream I have been wanting to share it because it just made me feel so good about all that I am doing right now. That all the stress and work I have put towards this has been worthwhile and I won't regret anything.

Basically the dream was simple.
I was standing with the ponytail of my hair in my hand and turned to look at Johnny and he was crying, sobbing and all that. He was so upset. As I told him it was all done, I had cut my hair. As he was crying I told him "I feel this is good I get to help some poor kid out who needs the help, and I get to try and make at least a small difference in their life" As I talked he seemed to relax and get used to my new hair cut. As I stood there I could feel the wind on the back of my scalp like when I use to have my short hair. It made me smile and I loved the feeling.

Again a super insanely simple dream but it really has made me relax more as I approach the third. I decided that though I will keep a few of the fundraisers up for a bit longer that is going to be the day that I do it. I am so ready.

First the current total is over $625.

I wanted to update everyone who bought or won tickets in my raffle due to the slow sales there was only one cash drawing for $100. The winner was Sherry (not from this forum). But don't worry if you didn't win I still have the prize drawing which will be happening this Sunday at 8pm (PST). Every ticket from the past drawing is in and I am selling prize only tickets for $1 each. Just some of the prizes are listed http://tankgirl.servebeer.com/hair/raffle.htm and the list of charities is http://tankgirl.servebeer.com/hair/charities.htm

As a incentive to help raise more funds I am going to give all your BPALer's a special deal for every 50 tickets sold I will be doing a special raffle for a very rare oil and a mixed set of GC's and LE's. For the first 50 the oil will be decant of Shub-Niggurath, at 100 tickets it will be Formula 54 (my last imp) and finally at 150 tickets it will be a untested decant of Pumpkin King. I hope I can get the 150 it is a chance to do a good deed and win some oils that just don't show up that often. This raffle will only include tickets purchased by BPALer's and you still will be included for the other prizes.

I also have some simple sales with all funds going to charity-

Handblended Teas from www.spicetradersteas.com

All teas are sealed in wonderful metal tins all hold 2 oz of loose teas (for more information check out the site)

Roobios-
This tea is grown in South Africa and is considered of their strongest red teas.
Ok I have added a simple flyer to the site so I can get in person donations from well everyone!! I am also starting several raffles in person to help raise money. I plan on raising funds on site at the renaissance faire but with the fundraising for Ronnie I will be holding back a bit since one of our own is very important. I am glad to say I already have one person who said that they would sponsor me they said they are going to offer $5 per inch of hair. I am so glad about this!

I plan on offering more items as soon as I find some donations and get some empty imps. I have a lot of BPAL I am debating offering up and as soon as I get over my initial uncomfortableness of asking for help, I am hoping to get some donations for a physical raffle and a few more auctions.

Keep an eye out for me and again don't forget you don't have to wait for me you can directly donate to any of the charities just let me know and maybe their will be some goodies involved!! Thanks!

Well it is all on its way! I have begun to post on the livejournal alchemylab as well as to the Biggins list. I am getting nervous but excited. So far the BPAL boards aren't getting on board as fast as I would have hoped but I have had support from some wonderful people off the board which has been fabulous so far. Also when I mentioned the fundraising to people in person at pre-faire I got some great responses.

I plan on having flyers and more details for people at faire so I can get the raffles and goodies going there starting next weekend. This is going to be an interesting two months!!!

Ok this whole thing is making me nervous!! I really want to make this work! I love the idea of bringing in good money for these charities since I feel they all do such amazing things. Now to get people excited and to find the right ways to raise the most money. I mean offering up a bald girl is only going to get me so far. I am really just trying to get it all lined up since I hope to get some things out by this weekend.

I also must admit I am both looking forward and am scared as hell about hacking off all my hair. Part of it is that I have grown rather attached to my hair. Admitedly more in thought then practice. I do next to nothing with it and it gets in the way but I like the idea I could do something with it and it is kind of nice. Part of me is also excited about having a shaved head (something which I have wanted to do for 12+ years but never had the balls to do) but I am scared i will look awful or regret it. I think a major part of the stress is I have never thought this hard about a hair style. I always decided and did it typically in the same day (that only back fired twice). It's stressing me to think about it for so long.

But I am going to push ahead and do my best. I hope I can get anywhere near my goal. The wonderful thing is I know I am lucky to know a lot of generous people and if I can go forward contacting them with no fear I know I have a chance!

Using my hair to raise funds

Ok this is the first of I hope many entries about this subject. I am just getting the website finished and getting the timing all worked out. I am a little excited and worried to get it all together. I hope it doesn't bomb!!

Hahahahha!! I forgot to mention what the hell I am doing! Basically the plan is to raise money for several charities if I hit my goal then I shave my head and donate my hair. It started because I grew my hair out and now am done with it. I hate to think of waiting much longer before I cut it off so I thought if I could make some money for charities then it would be worth losing my hair.

I spent several days picking the charities based on their record with Charity navigator and what their goals are. I wanted to get a good mix of charities that would cover my interests and hopefully make everyone want to give. And I get to help my local Basset rescue as well which makes me happy. My husband loves the breed and they are sweet, and I love the rescue people so I hope we can do good by them.

I am a little worried about shaving my head though I have to admit I am just praying I don't have a lumpy head! If I look to bad I might have to invest in a whole lot of hats and wigs! Good thing I already have some hats.

Well back to work!

here's the site btw
http://tankgirl.servebeer.com/hair

I am currently working out a idea for BPAL I am just not sure how to work it. What I see is scent suggestions based off of images, both personal and famous images but mostly personal images. I love this idea because I am so into photography and of seeing a glipse of other peoples lives. I also love the idea of people adding scent ideas to the images some how the mix of the senses seems really cool to me. I think it might be cool if people also added soem details about the photos to to give people a history of why some one would want to smell like this moment. Like I said this is something I am still pondering how I would like to see happen.

I also wanted to add why I am so hooked on this idea. On the forum a while ago when people were discussing Holiday scents I found myself describing a moment in my life that I would love to have as a scent. It is a moment that seemed so perfect to me and one that if I had a photo of I would love to share it and describe the scent and to beg Beth to create it!:) I figure we have all had these moments and thought it would be fun to share them.

Note this is the scent description I asked for:
I know this is a strange request and not common imagery for most people but I would die if Beth would make a scent that smelled like snow in the desert. Yes it does snow in the desert and only seems to do it out by me in Dec. and Feb. A certain strange crisp, clean scent, of dried desert woods, tumbleweeds long gone, soil, sage and cold. Tinged on the edges with a orange colored high domed sky. That is a winter scent I would kill for.

Hummm.. I will have to think about this one.

Well I have decided to actually start using my own LJ instead of just posting on others hahaha!! I have no idea why I haven't reallyy used this up till now but i think it just didn't turn out the way I hoped it would. I was really thinking this would get me to write more but nope instead it lead only to more time spent reading about BPAL and junk. Hahahah!!! Anyway this is something I just sort of hope to do. Maybe I will even get around to making my LJ look less lame since its in a sad way currently. Course I will have to figure that one out won't I?

Does anyone else get sad about taking down their Holiday decorations? It makes me depressed that I have to take down my tree, not just because its a huge behemouth of a tree but also it means I don't get to see my ornaments and things for another year. It also leaves everything looking all blank and empty, walls alwas look bigger after the holidays. I know this is because my Grandmother has always gone nuts for the holidays and it always was so cool seeing everything I just loved it all.
